Beautiful Kisses Redux

Beautiful kisses
Kisses of toddlers, open mouthed
Kisses behind bushes, much giggling
Kisses in kindergarten, the cloak room
And then
And then
Kisses not many, for many years
Lost kisses

New kisses
Kisses of arousal, of discovery
Kisses with tongues, not on lips
Kisses searching, for fulfillment
And then
And then
Kisses beyond time, of oblivion
Beautiful kisses

Promised kisses
Kisses serious, of consequence
Not so beautiful kisses, with anxiety
Smoky kisses, whiskey kisses
And then
And then
Kisses desperate, despairing
Shameful kisses

Dutiful kisses
Kisses obligatory, of ritual
Kisses perfunctory, now meaningless
Kisses diminishing, fewer and fewer
And then
And then
Kisses abandoned, now forgotten
No kisses

Rediscovered kisses
Kisses of excitement, of surrender
Passionate kisses, given freely
Kisses of love, lovely kisses
And then
And then
Kisses of beauty, beautiful kisses
Beautiful kisses

Beautiful kisses
Beautiful kisses, in innocence
Beautiful kisses, in knowledge
Beautiful kisses, in passion
And then
And then
Kisses of beauty, beautiful kisses
Beautiful kisses

Beautiful kisses
Beautiful kisses
Beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful kisses
