Hot Fun In The Summertime

“… all the girls walk by, dressed up for each other… ” ~ Van Morrison
The first real day of summer: mid eighties, high humidity. Our town had an Arts celebration today, with a classic car show tonight. Everyone wearing their summer clothes, trying to stay (and look) cool. And the girls wear clothes they would be embarrassed to be seen in any other time of the year. It is all part of the mating dance, maybe just a little more obvious now, but it is the same as it was, as it will be. Chilling out at the Dairy Queen, a trio of teen girls, with womanly bodies but the postures of children, wearing just-barely there tops and low riding pants. Even though this show is not meant for me, I can’t help but admire them: their curves are even better than those of the classic autos.

The kids are alright. It is kind of sweet. Really. I’m not complaining.
