twilight

western sun angles into the horizon,
softly.
sitting in a screen porch,
reading.
daytime breezes have dwindled,
exausted.
sounds of a neighborhood become clearer,
quieter.
light fades in a clocklike fashion,
incrementaly.
black type on a white page changes
graying.
a magazine closes and is set aside
finished.
twilight overcomes a busy world,
smaller.
